Walter Liedtke Vermeer and the Delft School
Between five and ten million paintings were produced in the Dutch republic in the seventeenth century. There was a greater demand for art, probably becuase of the purchaising power of the middle class. The art market was regulated by the local Guild of Saint Luke.
